To get into the theme, I decided to send out golden tickets to each guest. I bought enough chocolate bars and carefully opened each one and placed a golden ticket I printed from my computer in each bar. On the ticket was the pertinent party information, date, place, location, etc. The kids loved receiving those chocolate bars!

I started by lining the sidewalk with a red carpet I found at the local dollar store. I also lined the side of the sidewalk with pin wheels that looked just like giant lollipops. Inside the house I had a candy stand stocked with all different kinds of candy. I had candy jars all over the stand filled with all kinds of scrumptious candy!!!
I chose the colors of purple and brown to decorate the house in. I put streamers everywhere. From the ceiling, door hangs and other places that would look great. I put out a few fold up chairs in the living room and put a small TV that was playing Willy Wonka in there. I used giant balls to resemble rainbow jaw breakers. The best idea I had was to make a “contract” where the children will sign as they arrive at the party. I already signed for the main characters, Grandpa Joe and Charlie.

I decorated the tables in purple and gold table cloths. I had purchased hats from the local party store and placed them on the table. Both tables were stocked with candy, all kinds! The children munched on candy throughout the whole party.

Cake: My son’s favorite flavor is Chocolate. So I decided to make a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and a chocolate river in the middle filled with chocolate pudding. The cake was a hit and very good!

We played a few games that we got from the movie. The first game was find the golden ticket. We hid golden tickets all over the room, under the chairs, in the plants, etc. Each ticket was worth one wonka bar. The next and funniest game was diving for chocolate. We filled up pie pans with whip cream and placed a Hershey kiss in the whip cream. Using only your face, the children had to find the Hershey kiss. The fastest time one another candy bar. For a little more fun, don’t put a Hershey kiss in a few of the pies…like the birthday boy!!! Our next game was blowing bubbles. Each child got one chance to blow the biggest bubble they could. Winner got more chocolate. Our last game was a belching contest after they drank “fizzy lifting drinks”. It was pretty nasty, but the kids loved it!

After the party, each child got to fill the rest of their loot bag with candy from the candy stand. That way everyone left with a full bag of candy. I couldn't have pulled off this wonderful theme without the help of this website. Thanks so much!
