Now it’s time to get started on planning the party, but where do you have it? There are so many options and picking the “right” one can be very difficult to some people. Just remember, as long as your child’s family and friends are there, the location really doesn’t matter to them. So pick somewhere that is convenient and easy for you to setup and clean up in a minimal amount of time…
* Woody’s House: What a perfect way to celebrate your child’s birthday at Woody’s House. Now, I don’t actually mean go to Woody’s house, but transform your house in the Ultimate Woody’s Party location. How you ask? First, you need a little creativity. Second, check out the section on decorations. Finally, review our Ultimate Clip Art and Coloring Pages section. There will be plenty of ideas to help you get started. What are the benefits of having a party at your house? Where should I start? First, you won’t forget any crucial party items (e.g. piñata bat) at home. Second, the reservation for the restaurant might be wrong and when you show up they have no more room. Finally, you know where everything is at in your house, just in case something unexpected happens. I’m not saying your house is the perfect place because you also take the risk of something getting damaged. So make sure you weigh the pros and cons of each party location before deciding.
* Space Park: Another excellent location for this party theme. Make a list of all the local parks in the area and write down the key features of each one. For example, how much area? is there a playground? trashcan availability? Bathrooms? covered areas? Capacity of park? etc. You don’t want to show up at an overcrowded park, with no playground, no bathrooms and it starts to rain. Spend some time in selecting the right park and your party will run a lot smoother.
* Buzz’s Space Ship: Want to rent an establishment for the party location? A lot of establishments will provide you with invitations, discounts on food, a cake, etc. Make sure you find a decent place that provides you with enough stuff to balance out the cost. Don’t be afraid to ask for food discounts and other items, you will be surprised on what they will offer, but only if you ask!

Picking out or creating the Ultimate invitation can either be a fun or challenging part of the party. It all depends on how much time you have and what type of planning and thought you put in to it. I want to help you create the Ultimate invitation that will represent your party theme perfectly. How? I have listed a few ideas to get your creativity juices started. Take the ideas, as is, or alter them to fit “your” taste. I am sure with the ideas listed below you will be able to create the Ultimate Party Invitation!!! Enjoy…
* Store/Internet Bought: Not very creative, but still want that perfect invitation? Here are two different invitations to choose from. Buzz Lightyear Birthday Invitations and Buzz Lightyear Invitations
* Invitation Help: As you are creating these wonderful invitations, don’t forget to check out the Buzz Lightyear clip art section for pictures of different characters, object and shapes. These will help with the front, inside and backside of the invitations.
* Buzz Invitation #1: Start out with blank folded cards (about 4” x 5”) and envelopes. Use the pictures listed under the Invitation Help section to decorate the invitation. On the inside it could read: CALLING ALL SPACE RANGERS! THIS IS STAR COMMAND. BUZZ LIGHTYEAR AND SPACE RANGER (child’s name) NEED YOUR HELP. MISSION: Come join team Lightyear and defeat Emperor Zurg's nefarious plan to end all birthdays. STAR DATE: party date, SECTOR: our address, TIME: time of party, RSVP: STAR COMMAND (telephone number). TO INFINITY AND BEYOND! After you have put different pictures on the invitation and completed the inside wording, let your child color on the rest of it. This will make sure you child feels part of the party planning process.
* Buzz Invitation #2: Create this wonderful invitation on white card stock. On the front, cut out a star shape of glittery star fabric and outline it in gold and silver puffy paint. Put different pictures of Toy Story characters on the different sides of the invitation. You could hand write “to infinity and beyond” on the front and put the party information of ‘blast off time’ and ‘launch pad location’ on the inside.
* Buzz Invitation #3: The front of invitation could say, “Woody and Buzz invites you to a rootin’ tootin’ far out party!” Put different pictures of Woody and Buzz on the inside and outside. The inside could say, “Space Commander (child’s name), Place: Sector 12, Date:, Time:, etc. Decorate the envelope with different Buzz Lightyear stickers.

Picking out, setting up and fine tuning the decorations can be a long tedious process. But, there is hope, because with a little planning and creativity, it will be one of the most rewarding experiences of the party. I have compiled ideas that start with the outside decorations and finishes with the inside decorations. You can use all, some or none of the ideas, but no matter which ones you choose, they will help you turn your party location into the Ultimate Party Location.
First, we begin with the outside decorations.
Attach a bouquet of helium filled balloons to a light post or mailbox so there will be no mistaking where the fun will be that day!
Use Car Chalk to write a happy birthday message on the driveway and draw a picture of a rocket with an LGM looking out the window.
Above the door hang a sign reading, “Welcome to Star Command Academy”, “Hey Howdy Hey Ranch” or this great Birthday Banner. Use cording filler (that looks like rope, but only costs 25 cents per yard) to loop the banner around the hanging point.
Here is a great Buzz Lightyear Jointed Banner to place outside the party location.
Now, let’s move inside the party location and decorate…
Let’s start with the simple decorating. Tie helium balloons of different shades of orange, lime-green and turquoise in clusters of 3 or 5 to the back of chairs or tucked into corners. Use a helium tank to fill them instead of buying balloons from a party store and trying to cram them into your car. Make sure to tie a bunch of balloons to the birthday child’s chair. If you choose not to use helium, tie balloons to varying lengths of curling ribbon, and hang them from the ceiling or from light fixtures throughout the house.
Also, this Buzz Lightyear Mylar balloon will go perfect with your theme and your child will love it!!!
Next, let’s move on to another simple, yet familiar decorating item, Streamers. Streamers offer an economical way to splash lots of color around the site of the party. Create a fun and colorful effect by draping orange and lime-green metallic streamers from the center of the ceiling to the walls on each side of the room. The streamers can be twisted after they are anchored to a ceiling wall or table for a more dimensional look. Two different colored streamers can be placed back to back and twisted for a unique look. They also look terrific hanging from doorframes or cascading vertically down walls.
Here is some great Happy Birthday Confetti to place on the tables and around the party area.
How about making an awesome rocket out of a fridge box? Start out by putting foil on a cardboard cone on the roof of the box. Next, paint the inside and outside of the box black. Then paint the windows and cut a door on the outside. On the inside of the box, paint a window and controls out of glow in the dark paint and stick glow in the dark planets and stars in the window.
Here is a great idea for a centerpiece. Start out by saving empty soda bottles before the party. Fill them with water/oil and color the mixture with food coloring. Then add some galaxy confetti inside. Glue the tops shut and they will look like swirling galaxies. The kids will love these.
These Ultimate Buzz Lightyear Kid Birthday Party Theme Ideas should get you well started in the decorating process. Remember to check back, because I will be adding new ideas all the time, after I create them.

The colors of the party should be pretty simple. I would stick with different shades of orange, green, turquoise, etc. You could also throw in some Black and White for a space twist on the theme. After you have selected the party theme colors, move on to selecting either printed or solid color party tableware.
Looking for pre-printed party tableware on the internet? Great, here is an Ultimate selection of Buzz Lightyear Kit-N-Kaboodle plates, cups, napkins, forks, knives, etc.
Here is some more pre-printed party tableware on the internet: Buzz Lightyear plates, cups, napkins, forks, knives, etc.
Going solo on your party theme? Can’t find any party theme tableware you like? Then take a look at the silverware, plates, napkins, etc in solid colors. You’re guaranteed to find a color that matches your theme.

Let those who arrive early play with Bubbles while they wait for the other guests to arrive.
Don’t forget to check out the great collection of coloring pages I have compiled. This is a great coloring activity to keep the children occupied until the party starts. Plus, you can send them home in their goody bag.
A simple game of Woody, Woody, Buzz (i.e. duck, duck, goose) is a great ice breaker activity. You can keep adding children to the circle when they arrive. I have yet to find a child who doesn’t like this game, it’s a classic!!!
Freeze Dance is another great game to get kids acquainted. The game doesn’t require a certain number of kids, so they can join in as they arrive. Play the Toy Story soundtrack as the kids dance. If you stop the music, they must freeze. If they don’t freeze, they are out. The game restarts after all the children have been eliminated except 1. Kids love to dance and play games, which makes this an Ultimate Ice Breaker Activity.
Gather your child’s favorite toys in a designated area and let the kids have fun playing until everyone arrives. Gather as many Toy Story toys your child has for the children to play with.
Have the children make some great headbands to wear during the party. Download different characters from our coloring page and enlarge them 3 times and glue them onto colored cardboard to make the headband. Then put out glitter, fake jewels, feathers, pom poms, etc for the children to decorate their headbands.
Follow these instructions for making awesome Space Ship/Rocket name tags. To prepare for this craft, cut out cardboard in the shape of a short, thick spaceship/rocket and cover it with aluminum foil. Punch a hole in the top of each, and string yarn through it so the kids could wear them around their necks. Write each guest's name on the bottom of the rocket ship with a permanent marker. When the guests arrive, have them decorate their spaceships with glitter glue, Buzz Lightyear confetti, LGM's, planets, small space "stuff", etc. After they dry, the kids can wear them around their necks.

Buzz Lightyear Kid Birthday Party Theme Ideas for Cake
Deciding on whether you are going to make or buy the Ultimate cake is a tough decision. It mainly depends on how much time you have and how many guests are coming. I would suggest for a smaller party, you try and make that Ultimate cake. But if there is going to be a large number of guests, maybe a large cake made by the baker would be the best decision. It’s up to you, but here are some ideas on making an Ultimate Buzz Lightyear cake.
Woody/Buzz Cake: Start by baking a ¼” round chocolate cake. After icing the cake, decorate it with a small Woody/Buzz doll and miniature western figures (fences, horses, trees, etc).
Country/Space Cake: This is a great cake to make…Start by baking a sheet cake. On one side of the cake is going to be the western theme and the other will be a space theme. On the western side it will look like a pasture with grass and a fence, made out of clothespins painted brown. Next, put a plastic Woody figurine holding a rope in the middle of the pasture. Then on the other side make a big crater out of the ball pan. Create it with gray big indentions in it and place it on top of the sheet cake, and put Buzz Lightyear falling off the top of the crater. When you are completed it should look like Woody is throwing the rope to Buzz to save him.

Now the parties over, what do you do? Start planning the next one? Sure, but you don’t want to forget about the guests that helped you celebrate your child’s birthday. Make sure to send them some type of thank you note. Whether it is store bought or hand made, just make sure to get it out no later than a week after the party. Also, if you took any pictures at the party, make sure to include one in each invitation. Any thank you note you choose will end the Ultimate Buzz Lightyear Kid Birthday Party Theme.
