Location

Now it’s time to start planning the Ultimate Child Theme Party, but the first question to answer is where do you have it? There are so many options and picking the “right” one can be difficult for some people. Just remember, as long as your child’s family and friends are there, the location really doesn’t matter to them. So pick somewhere that is convenient and easy for you to setup and clean up in a minimal amount of time. Now keep reading for an Ultimate SpongeBob Birthday Party Idea.

* Bikini Bottom: Now I know you are not planning on traveling to the bottom of the sea for your child's party...or are you? Anyways...I know your child would just love his party if you brought Bikini Bottom right into his own house. Now I know your probably thinking you don't have enough time or creativity to pull that off, but I am going to share with you the Ultimate SpongeBob Birthday Party Idea to help you transform your home into Bikini Bottom. To get started, keep reading through the decorations, invitations, etc, and you will find more information on how easy it will be for you to make the transformation happen. But first, I would suggest checking out our selection of Clip Art and Coloring Pages. You will find a ton of information and pictures that I know you won't be able to use it all!!! Now, what are the benefits of having a party at your home? You might be thinking NO WAY!!! But wait, first I know you won’t forget any crucial party items at your home (e.g. piñata bat). Second, that reservation won’t get screwed up…because you are already there! Finally, you know where everything is, how convenient. Now don’t get me wrong, you do run the risk of damage and such, so be sure to weigh the benefits and risks and pick what’s best for you and your child!

* Jellyfish Fields: An excellent Kid Theme Party Location is the local park. Now there are a lot of benefits of having the party outdoors...and I think the most obvious is the surroundings. You aren't at "your" home where something of "yours" could get broke. You have more opportunity to really decorate the area how "you" want. But to get started on selecting the "Ultimate Park", begin by making a list of all the local parks/water parks in the area and write down the key features of each one. For example, how much area is available? is there a playground? tennis court? trash can availability? bathrooms? covered areas? capacity of park? etc. You don’t want to show up at an overcrowded park, with no playground or bathrooms and it starts to rain. Spend some time in selecting the right park and I guarantee your party will run a lot smoother. Don't worry, you'll still be able to use a lot of the decorating ideas from this site, so don't stop here...keep reading for more kid theme party ideas!

* Rock Bottom: If you've ever seen the TV show, then you might know what Rock Bottom is. Now SpongeBob took a little trip to Rock Bottom and I think it would be great if you took the children on a little trip to a place called Rock Bottom. Now why would you want to do that? Well, one great thing about renting an establishment is they sometimes provide you with invitations, discounts on food, a cake, etc. Make sure you find a decent place that provides you with enough stuff to balance out the rental cost. Don’t be afraid to ask for food discounts and other items, you will be surprised on what they will offer, but only if you ask! Also, ask if you can bring your own decorations...

Invitations

Picking out or designing the Ultimate SpongeBob invitation can either be a fun or challenging part of the party. It all depends on how much time you have, what type of planning you want to do and how much thought you put in to it. I want to help “you” create the Ultimate invitation that will represent your party theme perfectly and impress your party guests. How? Well, I know you'll find a birthday party idea to get your creativity juices flowing. Take these ideas, as is, or alter them to fit “your” taste. I am sure if you pick a birthday party idea listed below then you will be able to create the Ultimate Party Invitation!!! Enjoy…

* Store/Internet Bought: If you are reading this idea, it might be because you don't have enough time to create an Ultimate Invitation. Or maybe you just like store bought invitations better. It doesn’t really matter because I have found a couple of great SpongeBob birthday party idea party invitations you can choose from that will fit your party theme perfectly. SpongeBob Buddies Invitation, SpongeBob Many Moods Invitation or SpongeBob Squarepants Invitation.

* Invitation Help: As you start to create this SpongeBob invitation masterpiece, don't forget to check out the SpongeBob clip art for lots of different pictures. They will help you design the inside and out. Good Luck!

* Party Slogan: Before we get into the designing process, why don’t you pick out a party slogan? Pick something that your party could be developed around. Pick out a birthday party idea slogan to help you:

1. "Bikini Bottom Birthday Bash!"

2. ""child's name" Barnacle Rockin’ Birthday Bash!"

3. "Oh, Tartar Sauce…It’s "child's name" Birthday!"

Before we get started, I have listed a few birthday party idea on the design of the invitation and then I will give you ideas on what to say inside.

* SpongeBob Birthday Party Idea Invitation #1: Start by using neon yellow paper. Glue a color-printed Aloha from the Bikini Bottoms postcard to the front, with Who Lives in a Pineapple Under the Sea printed below in Spongebob font. On the inside, insert a photo of your child in a spongebob costume or pose, plus insert other Spongebob clipart!

* SpongeBob Birthday Party Idea Invitation #2: Pick out a few different pictures from our clipart section. Put them on the front of the invitation and pick out one of our phrases from below to put on the inside.

* SpongeBob Birthday Party Idea Invitation #3: Send a message in a bottle from Bikini Bottom! Roll the invitation up, and tie it with a small piece of green seaweed (Curling Ribbon or raffia). Add the invitation to an empty water bottle. Add about 4 tablespoons of sand to each bottle, and a few small seashells. One Shell Necklace can be cut apart, and will provide enough shells for about 10-12 invites.

* Here is a list of birthday party idea verses you could include in your party invitations *

"Child's Name" Wants You to Come to a Party with Me
Add details using nautical terms such as
Dive Location (Bikini Bottoms "Your address")
Cast Off (date), Dive Time, Resurface,

** Don't forget to add the RSVP, location, time, date, and other pertinent party information on the invitation. **

Decorations

Picking out, setting up and fine tuning the decorations can be a long tedious process. But, there is hope, because with a little planning and creativity, it will be one of the most rewarding experiences of the party. I have compiled a lot of birthday party idea that start with the outside decorations and finishes with the inside decorations. You can use all, some or none of the ideas, but no matter which kid theme party ideas you choose, they will help turn your party location into the Ultimate Party Location.

First, let's start with the outdoor decorations:

Attach a bouquet of helium filled balloons to a light post or mailbox so there will be no mistaking where the fun will be that day!

Hang green Die Cut Vines (seaweed), Clear Balloon bubble strands, and Tissue Bubble Fish overhead in the area where the children will enter the party.

Hang fish net on your fence, doors or anywhere else you can hang it.

Place a couple of tiki torches at the front door and around the party area.

Use fake red/white life preservers; plastic fish, crabs, lobsters, sea horses, shells; fishing pole; hula outfit; ukulele; beach pails; snorkel/mask/fins; colorful blow-up water rings, etc. to decorate in front of the party area.

Put a stuffed Spongebob on your front step holding a balloon, which will greet your guests.

Put a sign out front of your house that says, "This way to Bikini Bottom!"

Here is an easy way to make a great birthday banner. Use a white vinyl shower liner and 10" black vinyl letters (you can purchase these from an officer supply store). On the banner you can write something like, Bikini Bottom or Rock Bottom. You can also let your children or guests draw SpongeBob characters all over it.

Now, let’s move inside the party location and decorate...

Let’s start with the simple decorating. Tie helium balloons of different shades of yellow, gold, blue, green, etc. in clusters of 3 or 5 to the back of chairs or tucked into corners. Don't forget to tie a bunch of balloons to the birthday child’s chair. If you choose not to use helium, tie balloons to varying lengths of curling ribbon, and hang them from the ceiling or from light fixtures throughout the house.

Here is a great Ultimate Latex balloon for your party: Prismatic Fish Mylar Balloon.

Let's start with a simple picture backdrop. What better than a Giant Shark Mouth Standee for the children to enjoy.

Next, let’s move on to another simple, yet familiar decorating item, Streamers. Streamers offer an economical way to splash lots of color around the site of the party. Create a fun and colorful effect by draping rainbow colored metallic streamers from the center of the ceiling to the walls on each side of the room. The streamers can be twisted after they are anchored to a ceiling wall or table for a more dimensional look. Two different colored streamers can be placed back to back and twisted for a unique look. After you are done, it should look like a spiral rainbow above the room! They also look terrific hanging from doorframes or cascading vertically down walls. Streamers are an excellent SpongeBob Birthday Party Idea.

This Giant Treasure Chest is a super cool decoration that can be used as a gift drop box, and as a prop for a buried treasure party game.

To create the ultimate Bikini Bottom setting, cover a wall with Dark Blue Water Gossamer.  Next, add some realistic undersea life including Underwater Squiggle Grass, Clear balloon water bubbles, and sparkling Seahorses.

Add some goofy items that pay tribute to the whit, whimsy and wackiness of the world of SpongeBob and friends. Add a Giant Tissue Pineapple, a Plastic Tiki Mask, cool Surfboard Standees, and even a pair or two of white brief-style undies!

A Palm Tree surrounded by sand makes a delightful island for Painty the Pirate to watch over the kids!  You'll hear the roar of him bellowing, "Are you ready kids?" all the way to Bikini Bottom!

Tape pink streamers to pink helium balloons to create jellyfish and attach these to a railing or ceiling.

Hang blue & green streamers in doorways to look like water and add blue & green balloons on the floor.

Put blue crepe paper on the ceiling to simulate waves and fish cutouts hanging from the ceiling.

Tape colorful one-sided plastic fish on your water-walls.

Take 2 different colors of blue streamers and tape them all along your fence. Here and there use a strip of green to look like seaweed.

Clear out all toys and books, except for those related to SpongeBob.

Make collages of different SpongeBob characters to hang around the party area. Check out our Free Clipart Section for ideas.

I hope you can find a SpongeBob Birthday Party Idea you can use for your Ultimate Party!

Ice Breaker Activities

Trying to keep the guests attention until the party starts isn't an easy task. But with these kid theme party ideas listed below you won't have any problems!

Let those who’ve arrived early play with Bubbles while they wait for the other guests to arrive.

Don’t forget to check out the great collection of coloring pages I have compiled. A coloring activity is a great way to keep the children occupied until the party starts. Plus, you can send their pictures home in their goody bag.

A simple game of Sponge, Sponge, Bob (i.e. duck, duck, goose) is a great ice breaker activity. You can keep adding children to the circle as they arrive. I have yet to find a child who doesn't like this game, it’s a classic!!!

Freeze Dance is another great game to get kids acquainted. The game doesn't require a certain number of kids, so they can join in as they arrive. Play "SpongeBob Theme Song" as the kids dance. If you stop the music, they must freeze. If they don’t freeze, they are out. The game restarts after all the children have been eliminated except one. Kids love to dance and play games, which makes this an Ultimate SpongeBob Birthday Party Idea.

Have the children decorate a large birthday banner in honor of your child that says, “Happy Birthday, Name”. You can get a large roll of paper from a store like Target. Give the children crayons, stickers, and other such items to use.

Story time with puppet show: Make the puppets by printing characters off web sites & laminating them.  Attach to Popsicle sticks.

Set out as many SpongeBob toys as your child has. This way the children could have a choice between playing with toys or doing an activity.

Have them decorate their very own SpongeBob. Give them a yellow sponge and some markers and paint.

Have an episode of SpongeBob playing on your TV as the guests are arriving. This will definitely keep them entertained until all the guests have arrived.

Food

Picking out the perfect food, refreshments, treats and cake should be a fun experience. Think of clever names for each item that relates back to the SpongeBob Theme. Pick out a birthday party idea or two to get started:

* Raw Seaweed, Clams, Mussels, Oysters or Crab
* Goldfish
* Gary's Grub (Snack Mix)
* Krabby Patties (Hamburgers)
* Plankton Pizza (mini bagel bite pizzas)
* Squidward Snacks (cheese balls)
* Plankton Planks (Hot Dogs)
* Peanut Butter and Jellyfish Sandwiches
* Coral Chips (Potato Chips)

SpongeBob Birthday Party Idea for Refreshments:

* Deep Blue Sea Juice - Start by serving blue punch.  After you have placed a filled glass in front of each guest, add some seaweed dust (a few Pop Rocks candies) to each one. It will crackle, pop, and spit when it comes into contact with a liquid.
* Blue Bubbly Seaweed - To make the blue bubbly seaweed you will need lime sherbert, sprite and blue food coloring.
* Ocean Cooler - Blue raspberry jello with gummy fish inside and whip cream
* Jellyfish Juice - Blue Hawaiian punch and pink lemonade
* You can serve the drinks that children love, such as, Capri Suns, Kool-Aid Koolers, Kool-Aid Jammers, boxed juice, etc.

SpongeBob Birthday Party Idea for Cake:

Deciding on whether you are going to make or buy the Ultimate cake is a tough decision. It mainly depends on how much time you have and how many guests are coming. I would suggest for a smaller party, you try and make that Ultimate cake. But if there is going to be a large number of guests, maybe a large cake made by the baker would be the best decision. It’s up to you, but here is a SpongeBob Birthday Party Idea for making an Ultimate SpongeBob cake.
